This paper discusses how the terrorist organization Islamic State is attracting Central Asians to fight in Syria, arguing that jihadism poses a long-term danger to the security of Central Asia. To counter this threat, contends the author, Central Asian governments should develop a credible plan with improved security measures but also social, political and economic reforms.
