This paper reviews the results from an international conference on how to facilitate cooperation between state, institutional and private actors in Africa, with an emphasis on economic development, good governance and democracy, and peace and security. The paper’s authors explore these topics via four case studies – Ethiopia, Mozambique, Nigeria, and South Africa – and then discuss the cooperation-centered experiences of NGOs and private companies on the continent.
