This report provides a summary of the key issues raised at the international seminar “Changing Migration Patterns and Migration Governance in the Mediterranean Region” held in Italy in December 2014. Among other issues, the panelists discussed 1) the way in which migration countries deal with migratory flows from a cooperative perspective; 2) the question why the international human rights system does not seem to be working for migrants; and 3) the Mediterranean as a bridge region between Europe and the Saharan region and the role of MENA counties as origin, transit and destination countries.
