In this testimony given before the US Congress US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, CNAS' Elbridge Colby examines the implications of China’s growing arsenal of offensive missile forces in the context of its broader military buildup. More specifically, he discusses 1) the nature and scope of the Chinese conventional and nuclear offensive missile threat; 2) the strategic, political and military implications of the advances China has made in these areas; 3) the part nuclear weapons would play in any future conflict between Beijing and Washington; and 4) the potential for further nuclear proliferation amongst other Pacific nations.
