This issue of the RAD focuses on the parlous state of the political opposition in Russia. More specifically, it includes articles on 1) why the Putin regime has become increasingly coercive in its suppression of political dissent, and 2) the problems being faced by those trying to create a viable opposition movement to the present government. In the last case, the problems are severe enough that the smartest thing the mobilizers can do is hang on until better opportunities for political change present themselves.
