This paper discusses how Turkey can best grow its economy through economic cooperation with other parties. In particular, the authors look at 1) the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and the challenges Turkey needs to tackle in order to join the TTIP; and 2) the Customs Union Turkey already has with the EU and the difficulties that might accompany an upgrade of this union. They then argue that Turkey should demonstrate the political will to upgrade the Customs Union, while advocating (preferably in coalition with other countries) the idea of keeping an open architecture for the TTIP.
