This issue of the CTC Sentinel focuses on al-Qa`ida. More specifically, its articles 1) review the evolving threat posed by the group since 9/11; 2) assess the status of al-Qa`ida in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region; 3) take stock of Jabhat al-Nusra, which is a sister organization operating in Syria; 4) examine Al-Qa`ida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and how it has benefited from Yemen's collapse into civil war; and 5) give a profile of Sanafi al-Nasr, a veteran Saudi al-Qa`ida operative who is now believed to be with the “Khorasan Group” in Syria. The issue also includes an interview with Nick Rasmussen, the Director of the US National Counterterrorism Center.
