This paper addresses the role of ‘inclusivity’ in peace mediation processes. More specifically, the paper’s author 1) categorizes the norms that typically shape mediation processes, including inclusivity; 2) looks at how inclusivity interacts and compares with these other norms; 3) discusses how and when it’s appropriate to rely on inclusive approaches in mediation processes; and 4) contemplates what influence a mediator actually has in promoting norms such as inclusivity.
