This study traces the weapons and ammunition that were diverted from peacekeeping operations in Sudan and South Sudan from 2002-14. More specifically, the study 1) tallies the peace operations conducted during the period in question, who contributed to them, and what munitions they used; and 2) then examines the methods used by armed groups to acquire arms and ammunitions, both in general and through 22 ‘notable’ instances of seizure or theft. (Note: The latter incidents involved either the capture or loss of ten or more weapons or 500 or more rounds of ammunition.)
