This issue of the CTC Sentinel speculates on how global terrorism will play itself out in 2016. More specifically, the seven articles focus on 1) the Islamic State’s (IS) intention to “double down” and increase its attacks in Europe, Russia and Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan; 2) how British security agencies are mobilizing to confront an unprecedented terrorist threat; 3) the specter of IS using weapons of mass destruction against the West; 4) the expected expansion of IS and al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula; 5) how rival global terror franchises will further destabilize the Sahara-Sahel region; 6) how Hezbollah’s future calculations and behavior may be affected by Iran's nuclear deal and other regional dynamics; and 7) IS’ threat to Indonesia.
