This paper critically reviews the analytical work that has been done to gauge the collective status of Lebanon's youth. As part of her analysis, the text's author 1) reviews the political and socio-economic conditions that Lebanese youth have historically dealt with; 2) examines the two discourse that have dominated knowledge production on this demographic group since the post-civil war period; and 3) explores several sectors that highlight youth exclusion in Lebanon at the policy and institutional levels – i.e., employment and migration policies, family planning and personal status policies, and “spatial planning” policies.
