In anticipation of the 2016 US presidential elections, this paper provides nine national security-centered recommendations for the successful candidate to consider. The recommendations revolve around 1) ongoing or imminent military or intelligence operations; 2) the need to conclude a comprehensive budget deal, which is indeed a top national security priority; and 3) the creation of an agenda that signals the US' return to active international leadership, while also communicating the new administration’s strategic priorities.
