This paper provides a status update on the civil war in Yemen and the country’s future prospects for peace. More specifically, its authors focus on 1) the Huthi fighters and forces allied with ex-President Saleh; 2) the anti-Huthi alliance loosely allied with the government of President Abed-Rabbo Mansour Hadi, which is supported by a coalition led by Saudi Arabia; 3) the current regional and domestic impediments to peace; 4) the UN-brokered attempts to bring an end to the conflict; and 5) assorted next-step recommendations.
