This working paper demonstrates 1) how geopolitical thinking continues to enhance our understanding of international relations, and 2) proposes a more refined version of this world view with empirically-based examples. While pursuing these ends, the paper's author also discusses 1) the classical fundamentals of geopolitics and their contemporary applications, and 2) the prospects for future geopolitical research.
