This commentary explores the Trump administration’s desire to ‘rebalance’ the Sino-American trade relationship. Unfortunately for the US, imposing protectionist measures against China could harm its economy. A better option, the text’s author concludes, is for both countries to place their Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) process at the center of their bilateral relationship.
