This paper analyzes the political and economic dimensions of the Southeast Asian haze crisis and highlights the obstacles that are preventing a solution to this borderless threat. After performing a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis of the situation, the text’s author 1) concentrates on Indonesia’s inability to enforce its domestic pollution policies, and 2) recommends ways to close this compliance gap.
