This analysis discusses Morocco’s recent parliamentary elections, which highlighted the tensions that exist between the conservative Islamist Justice and Development Party (PJD) and the monarchy-backed Party of Authenticity and Modernity (PAM). The latter party remains popular and therefore dominant, the text argues, but it needs to close existing gaps in Morocco’s electoral register if it hopes to ensure the legitimacy of future election results.
