This paper explores the difficulties of monitoring illicit arms flows in Honduras. One problem is that some of the arms are sourced locally, including those that are diverted from state institutions and civilians, while others are sourced through cross-border trafficking. Another problem is that the indicators of illicit arms flows – firearms seizure data, prices of illicitly sold firearms, and firearms homicide statistics – have their own limitations which should be dealt with.
