This report assesses UN Resolution 1701 and the fragile stability in Lebanon after the Israel-Lebanon conflict in July 2006. It compares the different interpretations of the resolution by the Israeli and Lebanese government, Hizbollah and the UN. Although the truce held remarkably well, the report believes that peace is not sustainable because domestic dynamics, such as attempts by Hizbollah to rearm and Israeli over-flights or the Shebaa farms, could trigger a renewed conflict.
