This briefing assesses the political situation in Haiti after the departure of former President Aristide. It states that the transitional government is weak and the political, security and social-economic situation in Haiti remains in crisis. The briefing in particular analyzes the security situation in Haiti. It further holds that the elections in late 2005 will not produce a legitimate government without improvements in the security sector, a national dialogue and an economic revival.
