This briefing examines the perspectives for a solution to the future status of Montenegro after the fall of Slobodan Milošević's regime. It states that chances have increased that Montenegro will be able to decide on its future status without a violent response from Serbia. The briefing further lists actions that contributed to the end of Montenegrin participation in federal Yugoslav institutions. In spite of divergent opinions on the future of the federation in Montenegro, the autonomy option has found more supporters in recent years.
