This briefing examines the upcoming European Union peacekeeping force mission in Bosnia and Hercegovina (BiH). It draws attention to the risks inherent in the current line of thinking about BiH. An authoritative international presence there, both military and political, remains essential to contain recidivist elements, deter troublemakers in the region, and secure full implementation of the fundamental structural reforms now envisaged.
