This report examines the importance of the 1998 parliamentary elections in Macedonia and discusses past elections and changes to the electoral system. The paper analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the political parties and coalitions competing in the polls, looks at the issues that dominate the campaign and assesses the extent of international involvement. Furthermore, the paper projects the likely outcome of the elections, potential governing coalitions and consequences for ethnic relations.
