This report discusses the six presidential candidates in the run-up to the October 1999 presidential elections in Macedonia and assesses their chances in the upcoming elections, while examining the constitutional role of the president and electoral procedures. The paper also offers a prediction on how the poll might affect the workings of the three-party ruling coalition. In a final chapter, the paper portrays the increasingly strained relations between Macedonia and KFOR.
