This paper addresses the assassination of Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic on 12 March 2003 and reviews issues for Serbia’s future. The paper describes the assassination and its criminal and political dimension. Subsequently, the paper turns to Serbia’s political situation and discusses the state of the internal reforms, the tensions between Serbia and Montenegro and cooperation with the ICJ in The Hague. Finally, the paper explores questions regarding Kosovo and Bosnia as sources of instability and outlines trends in the Serbian society. It argues that Serbia has made little progress in breaking with the Milosevic-past.
