This briefing examines political violence in Central Asia. It gives an overview of violence incidents and security threats, such as the vulnerability of the Tajikistan border that is under pressure from the Taliban operations. It further highlights some of the responses by central governments to provide more security in the region, and criticizes the mainly military responses to the incidents, for example, Uzbekistan's mining of much of its border with Tajikistan.
