This briefing assesses the peace process in Burundi. It describes the mediation process and states that the Arusha agreement has been completed. However, the negotiations are far from over and it is essential that the Barudi avert a fresh wave of violence. They have to be convinced that Arusha is a meaningful step toward a comprehensive peace settlement.
