This briefing analyzes the situation in Sierra Leone since the January 2002 declaration of the end of civil war. It explores the transitional justice mechanism of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), outlines its development of operational resources, relationship with the government and starting operations. It examines President Kabbah's moral and financial commitment to the TRC process. In the end, the paper lists the steps the TRC has to take to ensure an ongoing peace process and national reconciliation.
