This briefing examines the fragile peace process between the Sudanese central government and the SPLA. While international attention focuses on Darfur, the national peace process is in danger of collapse. The paper shows the interests and the commitments of the government, the opposition and the SPLA to the peace process respectively, and outlines how the central government played with the threat to stop peace negotiations keeping international activism low on Darfur.
