This report examines ethnic violence in Kalimantan, Indonesia. The violence in Central Kalimantan can only be understood against the background of an acute sense of dislocation, deprivation and marginalization by the Dayak community, resulting in the Dayak massacring the immigrant Madurese. The report outlines the background of the Sampit massacre and the performance of the security forces. It also analyzes the origins of the Dayek resentment, among them the loss of land and education possibilities.
