This report analyzes Christian and Muslim violence in Indonesia's Maluku province. It examines the role of the security forces and the new military approach after the civil emergency of 2000. The report states that the government’s main priority is to ensure that large scale fighting does not resume. To preserve the present "peace," it is essential that the security forces behave in a professional and neutral manner.
