This report examines international assistance in Burma/Myanmar. It outlines the politics of aid of the national government, the opposition and international donors, respectively. Further it analyzes humanitarian, technical and political imperatives of development assistance, and the oversight structures for humanitarian assistance. The report argues that international assistance to Myanmar should be increased because the costs of social deprivation are too large otherwise.
