This briefing analyzes border disputes in Central Asia. It concentrates on points of contention on the Kazakh, Turkmen, Tajik and Kyrgyz borders of Uzbekistan, and the Chinese and Tajik borders with Kyrgystan. It argues that the border disputes have become important domestic and international political issues. Therefore, the resolution of the border dispute is critical for regional stability and security.
