This report examines the conflict between the central government and ethnic minority groups seeking autonomy in Myanmar. It outlines the most important ethnic minority groups and splits them into non-ceasefire and ceasefire groups, political parties, religious organizations and NGOs. The report also analyzes the perspectives for political influence of these different groups. It concludes by stating that the ethnic minorities lack a unified organizational structure and therefore capacity to pursue shared goals.
