This report addresses the aggravating human tragedy and security situation in and around Sierra Leone. The paper explores the roots of Sierra Leone’s conflict, including bad government, unaccountable military and ethnic politics and exclusion. Subsequently, the paper discusses the futility of negotiations and the failed peace accords, stresses the incredibility of the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) and outlines conflicting regional and international agendas. The paper calls for a decisive military action by the international community against the RUF.
