This report addresses the course of Sudan’s intensifying civil war and efforts to find a peaceful solution to this crisis. The paper outlines the state of the civil war, including battlefield developments, government and insurgent objectives and the use of food as a weapon. Subsequently, the paper sheds light on peace diplomacy of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development and outlines a more robust peace strategy. The paper argues that the window for peace is slowly closing and therefore a major effort is needed.
