This report addresses the civil war in and around Liberia. The paper outlines the course of Liberia’s civil war, focusing on the forces of the government and of the Liberians United for Reconciliation and Democracy (LURD) movement. Subsequently, the paper reviews regional involvements, support via porous borders and discusses the Ivory Coast crisis. The paper calls for further international action to end the civil war in Liberia and to stop the spread of chaos beyond its borders.
