This paper analyzes the Burma/Myanmar crisis. It examines the historical context of Burma/Myanmar and gives an overview of social and economic issues including the role of the international community. The authors advocate a policy of engagement with the present government in order to work toward sustainable dialogue and facilitate the improvement of civilian-military relations.
