This paper discusses recent developments in North Korea’s nuclear program and speculates on the future of East Asian security. The text’s author contends that Pyongyang’s last nuclear test (6 January 2015) helped buttress up its nuclear arsenal, thus making its next moves highly unpredictable. Given this uncertainty, the Six Party Talks now seem to be the best vehicle to try and establish an effective non-proliferation regime with North Korea and thus support a gradual restoration of regional security to the area.
