This paper discusses results and contentious issues of Timor-Leste's presidential elections of April and May 2007 and outlines the implications for the parliamentary elections on 30 June 2007. The paper explores Timor-Leste's political situation in early 2007, sheds light on course and results of both rounds of the presidential elections and presents an outlook for the parliamentary polls. Subsequently, the paper identifies issues that featured prominently in the election campaigns, including Timor Sea revenues and national sovereignty. The paper argues that the parliamentary elections will not solve any of Timor-Leste's many problems.
