In the case of the Asia-Pacific region, this paper discusses whether the strategic outlooks of the US and its European allies coincide, particularly when it comes to their threat perceptions and general expectations. The paper’s authors also 1) examine how Europe can provide added value to the US’ security efforts in the Far East; 2) highlight the Obama administration’s achievements in “rebalancing” US foreign policy over the last five years; and 3) contemplate what the transatlantic community should try to accomplish in the Asia-Pacific region during the next American President’s tenure.
