This paper examines the latest developments in Japanese foreign policy. First, it gives an overview of Abe Shinzo's life and political career, and then assesses his role as the new prime minister. Furthermore, the author evaluates the prospects for Japanese politics with focus of priorities and dilemmas that the government has to face.
