This paper addresses state and developments of Afghanistan six years after the Taliban were driven from power, commenting on the fragmentation of the international community and the risk of losing the country. The paper reviews the mixed record of international engagement since 2002 and comments on the state of the country with a focus on political achievements and the continuing insurgency. Subsequently, the paper examines the lack of unity and coordination among the different organizations engaged in Afghanistan and suggests steps to improve the situation. It calls for new mechanisms and momentum based on a comprehensive strategy.
