This paper examines US strategy in the Iraq war. The authors argue that the current strategy of unconditional support to Iraq’s central government has not produced enough political progress. They also argue that US President George W Bush and those wishing to succeed him should embrace a new political strategy in Iraq that makes US military presence conditional upon political accommodation.
