The articles in this issue of the Sentinel focus on 1) the lessons one can learn and apply from the campaign to weaken the Islamic State of Iraq between 2008 and 2011; 2) Hezbollah’s ongoing confrontation with Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries; 3) the decoupling of al-Qa`ida and its Syrian affiliate, Jabhat al-Nusra; and 4) the positioning of Iraqi forces and militias around Mosul and how the Islamic State has slowed their advance around the city. The issue also features an interview with Acting Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence for the US, Adam Szubin.
