This paper argues that Thailand’s ongoing peace talks have lost momentum and that the 7 bombings that have recently occurred in tourist towns are a portent of things to come. To get discussions back on track, the text’s authors believe 1) the country’s fragmented militants must abandon their political faith in violence, and 2) the government must commit itself to a comprehensive peace settlement that’s marked by political decentralization and respect for the Malay-Muslim identity that predominates in the deep south of the country.
