This publication analyzes the rising tensions in and around the Korean Peninsula. It specifically focuses on 1) the history of the DPRK’s nuclear doctrine; 2) Pyongyang’s present interests and objectives; 3) the roles being played by Russia, China and the US in the Korean standoff; and 4) the current imbroglio between a combative DPRK and its alleged enemies, including a reality-challenged US.
