The publication examines commonly held perceptions of the Chad-Sudan conflict, specifically the contention that violent clashes in the region stem from the Darfur crisis. The author argues that armed conflict in the border region of Chad can be best understood in its own political and historical context. The author concludes that the Darfurization of the border conflict is an oversimplication and that the focus should shift to democratization in Chad.
