The publication provides an overview of the Western European small arms and light weapon industry (SALW) and illustrates the lack of transparency in the sector. The author argues that information withheld by SALW companies in Western Europe on exporting activity impedes the international community from addressing concerns about small arms proliferation in conflict zones.
