The publication provides insights into the US small arms economy and questions how transparent the industry is in terms of releasing information about the nature of exports. It argues that while limited information exists on small arms trading abroad there is no comprehensive data on the availability of arms in the domestic arena. The report concludes that gaps in knowledge undermine effective policymaking at all levels.
